Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

Instructional activities (how does this game help develop language acquisition and development, both oral and written, be creative?)
Students will have to create a virtual world that will show entrepreneurship and utilize verbal communication skills and written skills to interact with their fellow classmates and players. While play8ing, students must use grammar rules and the appropriate punctuations.  

Assessment
Students will be assessed based on how creative they are and how much robux (virtual money) they earn while building their empire or game.

Debriefing (refer to the journal article page 8 to 12)
Upon completing the game, students will write a reflection paper about the challenges they faced and why they chose the format the developed. In addition, students will reflect on what skills and tools provided them a spike in robux (virtual dollars). During the game, players make important decisions on making sales and interacting with players. Students will have to make the connection on how their decisions were beneficial to their game/business.

What cognitive skills do this game help to cultivate?
Students will utilize their critical thinking to develop a creative game with rules and different business. Once they implement certain rules and businesses, it is their duty to research and evaluate which decisions play a larger role in increasing revenue.

What new literacies skills do this game help to cultivate (refer to the journal article page 2 and 3)?

The game helps students to grow their attention to detail and their logic and reasoning. By making key decisions and being creative, students sharpen their skills and develop their processing skills.

Book Builder

Love Your Hair! My book builder topic is on hair and diversity and it is aimed at students in kindergarten and first grade. As a future teacher, I think it is important to explore excepting people and allowing students to become comfortable with diversity at an early age. Growing up in NYC, I was exposed to so many cultures at a young age and it shaped who I am today. By introducing culture awareness at an early age, I believe that we will reduce the possibility of bullying and discrimination later on with students. I received the idea to explore this topic after having a conversation with a fellow co-worker who has a niece who is currently bullied in her class for her hair texture. After chatting with the ELA instructor ,she said it would be a great idea as students become self aware of their differences at an early age.
